Our Story

Located in the heart of Buffalo just a few minutes from Canalside, SEAR is a modern take on the traditional steakhouse and features a contemporary, chef-driven menu, an extensive wine list and well-curated craft cocktail program. Situated on the first floor of the beautiful Avant building on Delaware Avenue, the SEAR team is excited to provide Buffalo and beyond with a new concept of steakhouse dining.

SEAR marks the first collaboration between some of Buffalo’s best: restaurateur David Schutte of Oliver’s and Creekview Restaurants, former Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson, cornerback Terrence McGee and punter Brian Moorman, David Anderson, President and CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield, Dave Pietrowski, President of LoVullo Associates and Ron Raccuia, President of ADPRO Sports.

SEAR has also partnered with Pegula Sports and Entertainment in various aspects of the business including marketing, branding and creative services.  “SEAR is indicative of a dramatic rebirth that is occurring in Buffalo,” said Frank Cravotta, EVP of Creative Services at PSE.

The space itself is impressive boasting over 10,000 square feet with a modern design, dark mahogany wood tables, expansive bar and state-of-the-art lighting and sound system.  Several elegant banquettes line the bar and dining room with a 2,500 bottle “wine wall” along with two private rooms for entertaining.  The design by the Team at PSE will allow SEAR’s guests to enjoy a lively, high-energy bar scene that will be the perfect spot for an exciting night out on the town.  The SEAR experience promises to be completely unparalleled to anything that we have seen in downtown Buffalo.

The restaurant’s Executive Chef JT Nicholson showcases an innovative menu featuring a wide variety of prime and dry-aged steak selections, fresh seafood, creative small plates, sauces and side dishes. 350 wines have been hand-selected to be apart of an extraordinary wine list. SEAR proudly focuses on using locally grown produce and meat and also features impressive cocktails, desserts and after-dinner drinks.
